How much does in-home care cost?

Private-pay home care at Embark Care ranges from $25 to $30 per hour, with no contracts and no minimum hours. For qualifying families, we also contract with community programs that offer reduced rates. Live-in care in Texas is available at a flat rate starting at $300. Every quote is personalized — call us or request a free quote to get exact pricing for your situation.

Do you require a contract or minimum hours?

No. Embark Care has no contracts and no minimum hours. You pay only for the care you actually use, and you can adjust or pause services anytime. This is one of the biggest differences between us and national franchise agencies, which typically require 3 to 4-hour minimum shifts or long-term commitments.

Can I sign up for respite or as-needed care only?

Yes — and a lot of families do. You can enroll as a client for respite or as-needed care only, with no ongoing schedule required. There’s a one-time $60 enrollment fee, and then you simply pay for care when you need it. We keep your account active and in compliance, check in with you monthly, and have a caregiver ready whenever you need a break or an extra hand.

What services do you provide?

Embark Care provides non-medical in-home care, including personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting), companionship, transportation to appointments and errands, meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry, medication reminders, memory care for clients with dementia or Alzheimer’s, respite care for family caregivers, and live-in care. We do not provide skilled nursing — our caregivers are trained to support daily living and quality of life at home.

What payment options do you accept?

Embark Care works with a wide range of payment sources so families can access care in the way that fits them best:

Private pay — $25–$30/hour hourly, or flat-rate live-in care starting at $300.
VA benefits & pensions — including Aid & Attendance, Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC), and Veteran-Directed Care.
Long-term care insurance — we are licensed to accept and bill most LTC policies. We put an Assignment of Benefits (AOB) in place and handle all the claims and paperwork headaches for you.
Community Memory Care programs — we contract with select programs that reduce costs for qualifying families with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Area Agency on Aging (AAA) — we hold contracts with most Councils of Governments across our service areas.

How quickly can care start?

When it’s urgent — a post-hospital discharge, a caregiver emergency, a sudden change in your loved one’s condition — care can begin within 24 hours. In a typical situation, families can expect to have care in place within about 72 hours, almost always within the same week as your first call.

How are your caregivers screened?

Before anyone joins Embark Care, we run a full screening:

Criminal background checks
Employee Misconduct Registry (EMR) and Nurse Aide Registry (NAR) checks — name and Social Security number verified against both state systems
Professional and personal reference checks to verify real-world experience
Drug testing

And screening doesn’t stop at hire. EMR and NAR checks are re-run annually for every caregiver throughout their employment with us — because the families we serve deserve more than a one-time check.

Can I choose my caregiver and keep the same one?

We match every family with a caregiver we believe is a good fit based on experience, personality, and your home and family dynamics. If for any reason the match doesn’t feel right, you can always request a different caregiver — no awkwardness, no questions asked, we’ll find someone who is a better fit. Once the right caregiver is in place, caregiver and schedule consistency is our priority.

Do you provide memory care or dementia care?

Yes — and we take it seriously. We only place caregivers with verified, relevant memory care experience on memory care cases. Care plans are built around each client’s routine, triggers, and comfort, not a generic checklist. In Tyler (Henderson County) and Greenville (Hunt County), we also participate in Community Memory Care payment programs that may help offset the cost for qualifying families.

Are you available 24/7?

Our offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, but someone is always available when you need us. Outside of office hours, we have office staff and an on-call caregiver available 24/7 — so whether it’s a late-night emergency, a weekend question, or a last-minute schedule change, a real person answers. We also provide around-the-clock in-home care including overnight shifts, weekend care, and live-in care.

What is the difference between home care and home health?

Home health is skilled medical care — licensed nurses and therapists, always doctor-ordered, typically short-term. Home care is non-medical support with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, meals, companionship, errands, and transportation. Many families use both. Embark Care provides home care.
